Coaching And Workshops

It is my goal that, after a session with me,

you have a smile on your face and you know exactly what your next steps are!

What do I mean by systemic coaching?

In our sessions, we will focus on the resources and strengths that you already have, and I will support and guide you in creating solutions for the questions you bring to the table. My personal motivation is the joy I find in connecting with people and in working together to find good ways in handling challenging situations. The spirit I bring is encouraging and appreciative, and I strive to be non-judgmental, while regularly checking my own biases. My coaching style has been formed during a two-year training program at the isb (certified by DBVC). It is also informed by over ten years of work and life in academia as well as two years at a humanitarian non-profit. I am also happy to include elements of yoga and meditation in our coaching sessions if this is something meaningful to you.

Feel free to contact me for a brief conversation without any costs or obligations. In a 20min call over the phone or on zoom we will figure out if we are a good match - with regard to your coaching question(s) and on a personal level.

FOR doctoral and postdoctoral students

One-on-One Sessions and workshops

I am well-acquainted with the specific challenges and needs that early career researchers are confronted with today - having been a PhD candidate and a postdoc myself and having worked in different roles at a research institute for over ten years. From my own as well as my peers' encounters, I have a good understanding of the ghosts that are frequently and typically haunting people in academia - self-doubt, the impostor syndrome, perfectionism, high uncertainty of the future, physical exhaustion etc. I am happy to help you navigate the highs and lows of the PhD and the postdoc process as well as finding stable ground to stand on within the academic system. Several tools for organizing and managing your work routine but, even more importantly, tools for sustainable self-care will allow me to support you through mastering all kinds of obstacles - in a way that makes you feel positive about your decisions, whether large or small. I am also happy to accompany you in the process of making a decision for or against staying in academia - and will take a good look with you at YOUR alternatives.

I am offering one-on-one coachings as well as workshops for groups with coaching elements if desired - online or offline, in English or German.

Typical individual questions and workshop topics are, for example:

  • Should I stay or should I go? Professional Career Paths beyond Academia. What are my options in the world beyond? What is important to me in life, personally and professionally?
  • Impostor Syndrome, Perfectionism, and our Inner Critic: the ghosts that haunt early career researchers and that need to be seen and managed well
  • "Press pause" - Why taking breaks and knowing how to do that well is so crucial.
  • Finishing your PhD with (more) ease: tools to support your work process and "time management"
